Columbia Business School announced Tuesday that alumnus Henry R. Kravis, of the global investment firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., has pledged $100 million dollars toward the New York City business school - the largest in the school’s history.
The money will be directed toward the construction of new buildings and facilities on its Manhattanville campus - one of which will be named after the esteemed investor.
“We're not just constructing a building; we are building a community of entrepreneurs,” noted Mr. Kravis in a statement. “I hope the new facilities will be a place that fuels the most innovative thinking and a place where the entrepreneurial spirit thrives. Idealism, energy and knowledge are fertile ground for social entrepreneurship. Innovation and entrepreneurship at the business school will encourage and support innovation and entrepreneurship in the community.”
The massive donation will further aid the prospect of future entrepreneurs launching their own LLCs in New York City. At the heart of the gift, as well as Mr. Kravis’ firm, is a vested interest in entrepreneurship and the importance of emerging enterprises in building and maintaining a strong economy.
