Entrepreneurs who are going to form an LLC in Arizona will be happy with the results of a recent survey that placed the Grand Canyon state No. 13 on a list of most favorable places for business liability court cases.
After interviewing in-house attorneys from major companies, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce ranked the states in order of their ability to deliver what lawyers consider fair, competent and timely judgements.
Arizona ranked far ahead of Texas and California, which ranked 36 and 46, respectively. New York ranked a modest No. 23.
Delaware was the best state, with North Dakota, Nebraska, Indiana and Iowa rounding out the top five.
Los Angeles and Chicago were among the worst areas, leading the report''s authors to conclude that "it is possible that some states received low grades due to the negative reputation of one or two of their counties or jurisdictions."
West Virginia ranked last on the list.
In a recent study by CNBC, states were ranked for environments conducive to business, taking into account factors such as access to capital and cost of living. West Virginia finished among the bottom five in the rankings, with CNBC citing poor "business friendliness."
