Entrepreneurs forming an LLC in New York can benefit from the state''s 80 Small Business Development Centers and their free advice, research, training and loan assistance.

Many people facing a tough job market have decided to strike out on their own, and development centers, funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, are a valuable resource, according to the New York Daily News.

Most of the centers are located on college campuses and offer free services for entrepreneurs. In addition to helping with financing and SBA loan applications, the centers offer counseling and workshops that provide business owners with the skills they need to succeed.

Luis Tappan decided to start his own business after being laid off. He told the New York Daily News that finding someone who would invest in his idea was an obstacle.

"[Counselors at the center] have been a tremendous support, from helping me build my business plan to guiding me on the startup process, to acquiring licenses and permits, and even finding an institution to lend me money," Tappan said.

There are more than 900 SBA Small Business Development Centers providing free services in every state in the U.S.
