Business marketing is something of an enigma, in that it is profoundly complex - with different channels, demographics, strategies and industries that all need to be considered. However, aside from relying heavily on data, it is, at the end of the day, a fairly interpretive and subjective process.

Different strategies work for different businesses. In that sense, businesses need to embrace a sort of trial-and-error approach when forming an LLC in New York.

Take the burgeoning green marketing sector - an industry that is expected to reach $3.5 trillion by 2017, according to Global Industry Analysts. Those figures might suggest that the industry is reaching across all business sectors, but just because companies are taking steps to bolster their sustainability initiatives doesn't mean they are doing so effectively.

Paying attention to marketing reports and consumer data is important, but it should not inform one's promotional strategies. As a business owner, consider how you customers and your targeted demographics would respond to various industry trends, advertising methods and service offerings.

There is also the concept of "cultural movement marketing," championed by Forbes magazine contributor Scott Goodson, referring to the idea of placing an emphasis on the cultural or social relevance of a company's products and services.
