According to recent research conducted by the New York City Department of Small Business Services, along with the National Skills Coalition and the New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals, the job market for "middle-skill" jobs will be significant through 2018.
The report found that this sector will represent roughly 40 percent of all job openings between 2008 and 2018. This research is important, as it provides optimism for those in the middle sector still affected by the after effects of the recession. With more jobs in tow for those with skills deemed in the middle, the economy can continue to flourish in New York City, creating the opportunity for further job creation as well as business developments, more New York LLC filing and various other benefits.
Among the "middle-skills" jobs experiencing growth are dental hygienists, electricians, aircraft mechanics and others.
"The advanced manufacturing sector is growing, and demand will remain high for ready and qualified employees," said Mike Mandina, president of Optimax Systems, an optics manufacturer based in New York.
Before the recession began, roughly 46 percent of all current jobs were deemed "middle-skill," however, only 39 percent of New York workers had the necessary credentials for them.
