Last minute taxpayers may find relief in a three-day extension on this year's tax deadline, moving the date from April 15 to April 18, the Franchise Tax Board announced Monday.
The extension is due to the coincidence that the tax-filing deadline falls on a legal holiday in Washington, D.C., this year.
"Most people will wait to file until they get their W2s, 1099s, their home mortgage interest statements," said California FTB spokesman Daniel Tahara. "But technically you can file your income taxes today."
The three day addition also applies to those who take a six month extension on their tax filings.
Recently, the California Franchise Tax Board announced the launch of its Web Pay online payment service that allows indebted corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies to make a variety of payments through the web. Some of the payment services include current-year tax return balances, estimated taxes, extension payments, any amount of taxes owed for previous years and tax deposit payments for pending audits.
The FTB hopes the services will facilitate the sometimes daunting process of creating a California LLC.
