As California continues to grapple with the third-highest unemployment rate in the country - at 12.4 percent - the state's small businesses, a main source of employment and job creation, are seeking any help or reason they can find to begin hiring and spending en masse.

Recently, several state organizations hosted the final in a year-long series of events to help small business owners and entrepreneurs hoping to incorporate in California.

"California's entrepreneurial spirit can fuel our economic recovery today and for years to come," said Joel Ayala, director of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. "By working with statewide partners, we hope to be able to provide the tools, resources and information that small businesses need to position themselves to grow and lead various sectors of our economy."

As the country's largest state economy, and also one of the largest in the world, California's economic conditions are often seen as reflective of nationwide trends and projections. With 3.2 million small businesses in the Golden State, the sector is seen as a bastion of hope amid otherwise gloomy predictions.
