With all 2012 presidential candidates attempting to assert themselves as the voice of small business, it's interesting to note how the sector really views its political leaders.
A survey released this week by online business community Manta found the majority of small business owners have been adversely affected by the Obama administration, yet the president holds more support for the 2012 election than any of his current GOP rivals.
Nearly two-thirds of respondents claimed Obama administration policies have been damaging to small business, and only 16 percent stated they have benefited. Meanwhile, 21 percent of small business owners pointed to the president as the candidate to support more than any other - followed by Rick Perry (14 percent), Ron Paul (11 percent) and Mitt Romney (9 percent). Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin rounded out the bottom of the list.
"At the end of the day, it’s going to be, 'how can you help me find new customers and increase my revenue?'" Reuters quotes Manta CEO Pamela Springer as saying. "Whoever connects the dots is the person that is going to win."
