Business owners and entrepreneurs looking to launch an LLC in New York City can look forward to November 27th as a day of heightened consumer activity and small business advocacy. American Express OPEN has announced plans to make the Saturday after Thanksgiving "Small Business Saturday" - a celebration of U.S. small businesses through nationwide recognition and promotion.
Several large companies and organizations such as Facebook, Yelp, the 3/50 Project and the New York City Department of Small Business Services have all announced campaigns and promotional offerings aimed at spurring small business activity during the year's busiest consumer season.
"Small business is the engine of job creation in the US economy," said Kenneth Chenault, chairman and CEO of American Express. "It is also among the sectors hardest hit by the recession. By spreading the word about Small Business Saturday, we can help raise awareness about the critical role small businesses play in cities and towns across the country at a time when they need support the most."
The New York City-based credit and finance giant also announced plans to donate $1 up to $500,000 to women's entrepreneurial advocacy group Girls Inc. for every "Like" the Small Business Saturday Facebook group receives. The campaign is one of many pledged by participating companies.
Mr. Chenault, along with New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, will officially launch the nationwide program Monday afternoon.
