Nine Tuscon, Arizona-area businesses have been honored with the Wells Fargo Copper Cactus Award, which recognizes local small business achievement, employee happiness and community service.
"Small businesses have historically played a key role in keeping our economy moving – especially in this region as they take the lead in Southern Arizona’s economic recovery," said Raymond Baer, business banking manager for Wells Fargo Greater Arizona. "It's an honor and privilege for Wells Fargo to recognize their contributions in our communities through these awards."
Awards were handed out through classifications of business size, ranging up to staffs of 250 employees, and involved only Tuscon-area businesses. The three award categories included "Best Place to Work," "Business Growth" and "Community Service."
In 1998, the first year of the Copper Cactus Awards, there were 72 nominations, according to Inside Tuscon Business. This year there were 330 businesses nominated, suggesting both the growing esteem associated with the award as well as, many hope, a growing class of small businesses and entrepreneurs launching LLCs in Arizona.
